# How to limit and control ticket stock

go&dance allows you to control how many units of each ticket you can sell and, when several tickets depend on the same limited resource, set up **shared stock** between them.

This helps you avoid selling more tickets, places, rooms, or other resources than you actually have available.

## Limit the stock of a ticket

Each ticket can have its own stock.

To configure it:

1. Open your event.
2. Go to **Event page → Tickets**.
3. Create a new ticket or edit an existing one.
4. Under the **General** tab, find the **Stock settings** section.
5. Enter the total number of units you want to put on sale.
6. Save your changes.

As sales are made, go&dance will deduct the units sold from the available stock.

Once the specified limit is reached, the ticket will no longer be available for new purchases.

### Show available units

You can also enable the **Show available tickets** option.

When enabled, buyers will be able to see how many units are still available. When only a few tickets remain, this information may be displayed more prominently to indicate that stock is close to selling out.

## Stock control: share stock between multiple tickets

In some cases, limiting each ticket individually is not enough.

You may have **several different tickets that use the same resource**. In these cases, you can use **Stock control**.

A stock control allows you to group multiple tickets and set a **maximum combined sales limit**.

> The limit does not apply individually to each ticket, but to the total sales of all tickets included in the stock control.

### Example: hotel rooms

Imagine you have **100 double rooms**, but you sell them through different tickets:

- Double room – 1 night
- Double room – 2 nights
- Double room – 3 nights
- Full Pass + Double room

Although these are different tickets, they all depend on the same number of available rooms.

If you configured a stock of 100 units for each ticket independently, you could end up selling more than 100 rooms.

Instead, you can create a **stock control of 100 units** and include all of these tickets.

go&dance will take into account the combined sales across all of them and, once they reach 100 units in total, it will no longer allow tickets associated with that stock control to be sold.

## Create a stock control

To create one:

1. Go to **Event page → Stock control**.
2. Click **Create control**.
3. Enter a name that allows you to easily identify the resource you are controlling.
4. Set the maximum number of available units.
5. Select the tickets that should share that stock.
6. Save the control.

Once created, you can use this section to see how the stock is being used across the different associated tickets.

## Individual stock and shared stock

The **ticket stock** limits the number of units that can be sold for that specific ticket.

The **stock control** sets an additional shared limit across multiple tickets.

For example, you could have:

| Ticket | Ticket stock |
| ---- | ---- |
| Double room – 1 night | 50 |
| Double room – 2 nights | 70 |
| Double room – 3 nights | 60 |

And associate all three with a **shared stock control of 100 rooms**.

Each ticket will still have its own individual limit, but together they **will never be able to exceed the 100 units defined in the shared stock control**.

## When should you use a stock control?

Use it whenever different tickets are selling or using the same limited resource.

It is particularly useful for managing **rooms, places, packages, or different versions of the same ticket**, preventing the combined sales from exceeding the actual available capacity.

> **Tip:** if several tickets depend on the same maximum capacity, don't rely solely on the individual stock of each ticket. Create a shared stock control so go&dance can apply the limit across their combined sales.
