# How to create discount codes

**Discount codes** allow you to offer a special price for specific tickets to your event. You can define the discount amount, limit its use, set the dates during which it will be active, and specify exactly which tickets it can be applied to.

> **Important:** discounts are applied **at ticket level, not at sale or order level**.
> If a buyer purchases multiple tickets that are eligible for the discount, it will be applied to each corresponding ticket according to the code settings.

## Create a discount code

Go to **Marketing → Discounts** within your event and click **Create discount**.

The settings are divided into two sections: **Details** and **Tickets**.

## Configure the discount details

Under the **Details** tab, you can configure how the code works.

### Discount code

Enter the code buyers will need to use during the purchase process, for example:

`SUMMER20`

If you leave this field empty, go&dance will automatically generate a random code.

### Discount value

Enter how much you want to discount from the price of each ticket.

You can configure the discount as:

- **Fixed amount (€):** deducts a specific amount from the ticket price.
- **Percentage (%):** applies a percentage discount to the ticket price.

For example, if you configure a **€10** discount and the buyer purchases two tickets to which the code applies, **€10 will be deducted from each ticket**, not €10 from the total order.

## Limit the number of uses

You can decide how many times a discount code can be used.

Enable **Unlimited uses** if you want the code to be used without a limit. If you disable it, you can set a maximum number of uses.

This option is useful for limited campaigns, agreements with specific groups, or exclusive codes for a certain number of buyers.

## Allow presale access

The **Presale** option allows the code to be used to purchase specific tickets **before their normal availability date**.

For example, you can configure a ticket so that general sales begin on the 15th and provide a code in advance to a group of customers so they can purchase it earlier.

> Presale does not require you to bring forward the ticket's general availability date: it only provides early access through the discount code.

## Limit the discount by date

You can also define the period during which the code can be used.

You can set a **start date**, an **end date**, or both. This allows you to prepare the discount in advance and automatically control when a campaign starts and ends.

## Select the tickets

Under the **Tickets** tab, select the tickets to which the discount will apply.

Enable only the tickets for which you want to allow the code to be used.

For example, this allows you to offer a discount on **Full Passes** without applying it to **Party Passes**, hotels, or other ticket types for the same event.

> **Remember:** a discount code is not applied globally to the total purchase amount. It only applies to the **tickets you have selected** that are included in the order.

## Save the discount

Once you have finished configuring the details and selected the corresponding tickets, click **Save**.

You can then share the code with your customers so they can enter it during the purchase process and receive the discount according to the conditions you have configured.
